This is a laboratory course designed to provide job-specific training for entry-level employment in a cosmetology career. Instruction includes sterilization and sanitation processes, shampooing, application of conditioning creams and color rinses, application of hair treatments, shaping and thinning hair, hair styling, permanent waving, hair coloring, manicuring, facial massage, and make-up. This course meets the cosmetology commission requirements. This course is a 2 year Howard College course and will require Saturdays and extra hour requirements. Upon completion of the two-year program, students will have the opportunity to take the state exam and receive a cosmetology license. This course is taught at West Texas Training Center. Students must provide their own transportation.
